Psalms 42-43; Luke 8: 26-39
A Man Named Legion

This morning's service provided a timely look at one of the most frequently told stories in the Bible -- that of the man in chains being kept in a cemetery and his encounter with Jesus. It was a special service in that our time with Amy is drawing to a close (she will be leading her last service at St. David's mid-July) and we wanted to recognize and celebrate the past months which we have shared with her as our Pastoral Care Minister.

Celebrations at St. David's pre-COVID meant there would be cake and true to form, we ate cake and cupcakes with abandon in the TM room after the service. Janet, Marilyn with Darlene made ready our gathering after church, Berney and Bob were counters, greeters were our new friends from NMUC and music ministry was offered by a quartet of singers from the various choirs along with Brent and Sarah. In the balcony, the PSALT team included Craig, MaryAnn, Debra and Brenda.

It was Father's Day and although the Seed for Meditation was a quote by a Chicago Grandmother, Amy suggested that a Grandpa could have agreed that, "Son, until you name the demon, you ain't never gonna be free." Grandma was speaking to her drug-addicted grandson as recalled by Dr. Otis Moss III.

The recap of the reflection has been shared by Brenda Wallace.
