The Affirming Network, representing a host of Christian, Jewish and Islamic institutions, presented the Third Annual Citywide Service today. The service opened with a Welcome segment that included many people and organizations coming together online -- sharing their enthusiasm on such a special day. Musical selections were offered by the Knox Presbyterian Choir whose ministry in song was accompanied by the candle lighting at home churches, synagogues and mosques participating.
Rev. June Joplin from the Metropolitan Community Church in Toronto was the guest speaker and her words were so wise, inclusive and encouraging. She based her message on John's Gospel (1 John 4: 8) -- "God is love." Check out this wonderful life-affirming celebration of community.
