“I Believe in Love: Daring Right Relationships.”

Our special guest (online) this morning was Brenda McQueen, President on the Morley McDougall Society, who updated our awareness of the rebuilding of the Morley McDougall United Church and of the ongoing cooperation with the Stoney Nakoda Nation families. She spoke of the meaning of Love that, for her and her family, they have felt for the Stoney Nakoda peoples in what is rightly called a "Daring Right Relationship." (Note that one of our selected destinations for St. David's giving at Christmas is with the Morley  Annual Christmas Feast. Donations can be brought into the office.)

Our soloist, masked, was Ruth Cross with Heather McKeague joining her for a special selection. Diane and Mike Trew assisted Rev. Peggy during the service with Brent at the piano and organ, Tapas on projection, Deb on the host computer and Dave and Brenda filling in as needed. The second candle of Advent, the Candle of Love was lit and placed in its place of honour. Check out Sermons on the Home Page to view the Youtube.

"I Believe in the Sun: Hope for Tomorrow"

The Sanctuary was lit by candle light on Sunday morning as Rev. Peggy began her new series, marking the Advent season. "Raise your voice... do not be afraid" was the message for Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent. The advent candle was processed to the altar is a ritual which has been aptly named "Crossing the Threshold." While the candle was being carried, soloist Ruth Cross, wearing the mandatory mask, sang a song that will become familiar to us as the series progresses: "I believe in the sun, I believe in the sun, even when, even when it's not shining." Assisting Rev. Peggy today were Diane Trew, Ruth Cross and Brent Tucker. This morning's Tech Team consisted of Deb Charnuski, David Layton and Brenda Wallaace.

November 8, 2020: "Active Remembering" with Rev. Debbie Stockdale.

November 1, 2020: https://youtu.be/obr_KsBDv4s

"Remembering" that "We are Made for the Beloved" was the theme on Sunday morning. It is a contemplative practice to sit with our memories and find the beauty therein. Our videos, songs, anthems (yes, we were blessed with two special musical offerings by our 'masked' choir members who join us in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings), readings and hymns helped us with our 'remembering.'
