January 24, 2022:

It is so delightful to have our friends from Kamloops and friend from Toronto join us on ZOOM as we study "On the Brink of Everything" by Dr. Parker Palmer. Last night's videos were current as is his book, published in 2018. When Dr. Palmer speaks about "needing to reframe aging as a passage of discovery and engagement. Not decline or inaction" we are made aware of his growing edges as he experiences his aging.

Joan opened last night in prayer and the reading of a poem by Mary Oliver. Wayne stresses that Dr. Palmer's book is more poetic than factual, more reflective than objective. Closing last night was with Brenda and featured the song specifically written for the book by Carrie Newcomer. Next week focus will be Chapter One-- "The View from the Brink:What I Can See from Here..."
Check out the pdf from last night's session #2 on MINISTRIES/ Adult Spiritual Development page. Maybe we will see you next week.

January 18, 2022:

How awesome to see everyone last night! We have a fairly long contact list and we had lots of people to share ideas with in Session #1. Ken opened and Joan closed. Check out the pdf attachment of last night's slides and today's reflection, "Pause to Consider."

January 17, 2022:

Plan to join us on Monday night for our first session of the study of Parker Palmer's most recent book. It's subtitles are Grace, Gravity and Getting Old. For many of us, Palmer's writing about teaching and spiritual development have long been trusted guides. Our study starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Hope to see you there. P.S. If you would like to be on our contact list, contact Brenda, Wayne or Joan and we will gladly add your name.
